Love the taste, but they melt during shipping August 30, 2010 Thomas Nicholson These chocolate Clif Builder's Bars are, simply put, the best tasting protein bars I've ever tasted. I was excited to see them available on Amazon. The only problem I have, which I don't believe can really be corrected when ordering via Amazon, is that the chocolate coating melts during shipping. Then when you open them up to eat them, the chocolate has re-solidified and flakes off while you're eating them and this is very messy. So love the taste, and ordering them on Amazon is cheaper than I can find them anywhere else, but have to put up with the chocolate coating melting.
Protein Bars for Football Star August 29, 2010 Fun Reader This is my son's favorite protein bar and peanut butter is the favorite favor. He says they taste good, much better than any other high protein bar.
I have trouble finding them in stores where we live so I ordered them online. The only problem we had was the weather was 90 degrees and they melted while being shipped. It didn't change the taste, but the chocolate was crumbling so was messy to eat.
I'll order again, only I wait for cooler weather.
Chocolate Clif Bar August 24, 2010 Jim I purchase and eat these Clif bars all the time. But ordering online may not be the best idea since they arrived damaged by heat during shipping. Its obvious the chocolate had melted in transit and flakes off as you eat them.
Amazing Bars! Don't buy them on Amazon though... August 20, 2010 Jon M. For years, I've always wanted to find something that would fill me up in between meals. I've tried apples, bananas, peanut butter, bread, pasta etc...
The Clif Builder bars are the only things that work! I recently got back from a trip abroad to Asia, I brought 40 of these bars with me so that I could have one each day if I needed. They saved me over there!
Anyway, these bars are great if you're backpacking or in the workplace (I have a box underneath my desk) and will keep you awake and satiate your hunger during the 3 o'clock slump.
HOWEVER, do not buy these on Amazon. I ordered a box of 12 and while they looked find from the outside, on the inside, much of the chocolate covering was broken up into little pieces. As you unwrap the bar, these little pieces fall out and may stain your clothes if you are not careful. Also, the bars did not taste as fresh as they should be -- I think they have been sitting in a steamy Amazon.com warehouse for quite some time.
BUY these instead at Trader Joe's, which should stock them. They are about $1.50 there so the price difference is pretty minute.
Good job providing "energy," but at the expense of a LOT of sugar and calories August 14, 2010 Adam Lasnik (San Francisco, CA USA and http://www.bladam.com/) Protein? Check! Stave off hunger for a good while? Check! Pack your waistline via lots of sugar and calories? Alas, also true.
If you're trying to decide between, say, a Snickers and this Clif bar, the latter one wins hands down health-wise, especially if before or after an intense workout. As a meal replacement... hmm... maybe.
But if you're looking for an optimal muscle-building supplement, use protein powder. If you're looking for a healthier snack, grab a less-sugar'd bar or -- if you don't mind sacrificing a bit of convenience -- grab a banana and some nuts or yogurt or whatnot.
